Board Member

Trina LaRiviere is a compassionate and dedicated board member, bringing her unique blend of professional expertise and heartfelt passions to the table.

 

As the owner and operator of Inland Traffic Control, a thriving company she built from the ground up, Trina embodies the qualities of an entrepreneurial leader. Her commitment to running a business with compassion and kindness for the community is truly inspiring. Through her company, she has positively impacted countless lives by prioritizing the welfare and safety of individuals on the road.

 

While Trina's professional success is remarkable, her passions extend far beyond the realm of business. She is deeply invested in the field of education and is dedicated to raising awareness and support for individuals with learning disabilities. Trina believes in empowering the community through knowledge and actively engages in initiatives to educate others on these important topics.

 

In addition to her work in education, Trina is a strong advocate for Wired2Learn Academy, recognizing the transformative power of specialized education for students with learning differences. She tirelessly champions the mission of “providing quality learning opportunities and inclusive environments to unlock the full potential of every individual.”

 

Trina possesses a genuine empathy for vulnerable populations and consistently seeks ways to contribute to their betterment. Whether it's volunteering at local animal shelters or participating in programs that support older adults, Trina is always ready to lend a helping hand and make a positive impact in their lives.

Gregory S. Emerson

Board Member

Gregory S. Emerson is a highly accomplished and dedicated professional, known for his expertise in finance and accounting. With a strong educational background and extensive experience in the field, he has made significant contributions to various organizations throughout his career in mining, manufacturing, and finance industries.

 

Greg currently owns two operating businesses, Peak1 Administration LLC and MPB Solutions, LLC. Prior to these business ventures, Greg was the president and CEO of WGI Heavy Minerals, Inc., President of Emerald Creek Garnet Ltd, International Waterjet Parts, and Managing Director of Kominex Mineralmahlwerk GmbH in Ermsleben, Germany. Greg was also the CFO of WGI.


Greg holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from Simon Fraser University, which has provided him with a comprehensive understanding of various aspects of business management. His academic foundation has been instrumental in shaping his career path and enabling him to excel in his chosen field.

 

As a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with the prestigious Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Canada designation, Greg possesses a deep understanding of accounting principles, taxation, auditing, and financial management. His commitment to excellence and attention to detail have earned him the esteemed CA (Chartered Accountant) designation, further highlighting his mastery in the field.

 

Throughout his career, Greg has served in various executive roles within organizations, leveraging his expertise to optimize financial operations and drive business growth. His ability to analyze complex financial data, develop effective strategies, and provide insightful recommendations has consistently helped businesses make informed decisions and achieve their financial objectives.

 

As a resident of Post Falls, Idaho, Greg’s dedication to making a positive impact extends beyond the boardroom, as he strives to contribute to the betterment of the community. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Greg is also actively involved in community initiatives such as Real-Life Ministries. His passion for finance, combined with his unwavering dedication to excellence, positions him as a trusted ally for individuals and organizations seeking expert financial guidance.

 

With a strong reputation for his professionalism, integrity, and exceptional work ethic, Greg is widely regarded as a trusted advisor and financial expert. His ability to navigate the intricacies of the financial landscape and deliver results has earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues, clients, and associates alike, and makes him an incredible asset to Wired2Learn Academy.


Greg is married to his wife Kristi and has three children and three grandchildren. In his spare time, Greg enjoys playing ice hockey and outdoor activities, such as hiking and cycling, which allow him to recharge and appreciate the beauty of nature. He also maintains an active interest in personal finance and enjoys exploring new investment opportunities.


Noah Pukkila

Board Member

Noah Pukkila is a driven and resilient individual who has built a successful career as a salesman despite facing challenges associated with dyslexia. He was born and raised in an environment that nurtured his entrepreneurial spirit, and he always knew he wanted to become a business owner.


After completing his education, Noah began his sales career and quickly rose through the ranks. For six years, he worked tirelessly, building his network and honing his sales skills. He developed a reputation for being a highly effective communicator, and his ability to build relationships with clients was unmatched.


In the last year, Noah took a leap of faith and started his own company, Ta-Do. He saw an opportunity to provide high-quality services that were not readily available in the market, and he was determined to fill that gap. With his extensive experience in sales and a keen eye for business opportunities, Noah was able to quickly establish Ta-Do as a thriving enterprise.

 

Noah's passion for innovation and technology led him to become the Vice President of Sales at Legion MDR, a groundbreaking startup cyber security company. His proven track record in sales, coupled with his entrepreneurial mindset, brings a unique perspective to the company. Noah understands the complexities of the cyber security landscape and is dedicated to helping organizations safeguard their sensitive data and digital assets.

 

His experience as a founder and CEO has provided Noah with an in-depth understanding of the challenges faced by businesses in today's digital world. His ability to identify opportunities, navigate complex sales processes, and deliver exceptional results makes him a valuable asset to Legion MDR's growth and success.

 

Noah's personal experience with dyslexia has fueled his motivation to work harder and smarter, proving that anything is possible with perseverance. He serves as a true inspiration to others, sharing his story and offering support to those facing similar challenges.

 

In addition to his professional achievements, Noah is deeply committed to his community. He volunteers with various organizations supporting individuals with learning disabilities, using his own journey to inspire and uplift others. We welcome Noah’s unique perspective and experiences to the Wired2Learn Academy board, as we know he can relate well to our students and families.

 

Noah’s personal life reflects his love for the great outdoors.  As a single individual, he relishes the freedom to explore his hobbies and passions.  He finds joy in exploring nature and enjoys activities like golfing in the summer and skiing during the winter. He also values spending quality time with his friends.

Alyssa Pukkila

Board Member

Alyssa Pukkila is a highly dedicated and accomplished education professional. With her extensive experience, creativity, and profound knowledge of learning disabilities, Alyssa brings an innovative approach to remediation, combining the art of facilitation and teaching with brain-based research.

 

Alyssa is the founder, executive director, and board member of Wired2Learn Academy, a renowned nonprofit school dedicated to engaging, encouraging, and empowering students with learning disabilities. Wired2Learn is Idaho's first full-time school dedicated to serving children with learning disabilities. Under her leadership, the academy has flourished, offering specialized and individualized programs that cater to the unique strengths and needs of each student.

 

With a career spanning 25 years in education and educational therapy, Alyssa has honed her expertise in various roles. She began as a classroom teacher, instilling knowledge and inspiration in her students. As a homeschooling mother, she gained valuable insights into personalized learning approaches and the unique needs of individual learners. Additionally, she taught English as a second language and intercultural communications to adults in Finland, broadening her understanding of diverse educational contexts.

 

Motivated by her passion for assisting children with learning disabilities, Alyssa established her own educational therapy practice, providing specialized support to those in need. Her dedication to making a difference in the lives of students with learning disabilities also extends to her role as a motivational speaker and learning disability seminar leader for many local private schools. Her presentations inspire educators and parents alike, shedding light on effective strategies and interventions for addressing learning challenges.

 

Alyssa's commitment to advancing her knowledge and staying at the forefront of educational research is unwavering. She earned a master's degree in psychology with a specialization in learning disabilities from Kaplan University. She also continues to actively pursue the latest research on the brain and learning, pedagogy, and the emerging field of educational neuroscience.

 

This passion for understanding the intricate connections between the brain and learning has driven Alyssa to develop a novel, proprietary approach to teaching dyslexic children letter-sound connections. This innovative approach formed the basis of her master's thesis research, contributing to the growing body of knowledge in the field.

 

Alyssa's unwavering dedication and commitment to improving the lives of children with learning disabilities have made her a respected figure within the educational community. Her expertise, creativity, and unwavering passion continue to shape the organization's vision and mission.

 

Alyssa’s tireless efforts in integrating research-backed approaches with personalized instruction ensure that students with learning disabilities receive the support they deserve, empowering them to thrive academically and beyond.

 

Alyssa is married to Marko and together they have raised four adult sons.  They thoroughly enjoy their life in the great Northwest, making the most of its offerings.  Camping holds a special place in their hearts, allowing them to disconnect from the busy world and connect with nature.  Alyssa enjoys hiking and gardening. She also relishes the chance to unwind and immerse herself in literature.
